A Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO)
is a private nonprofit, community-based service organization that has
obtained or intends to obtain staff with the capacity to develop
affordable housing for the community it serves.
All interested non-profits must submit a completed
LHFA CHDO certification application with appropriate supporting
documentation. Certification is effective for a twelve (12) month
period from approval. New certification applications are accepted
anytime.
By such certification and designation as a
Community Housing Development Organization, the CHDO is entitled to
participate in HOME Program activities as a CHDO and may access HOME
Program funds that have been set-aside and or allocated to CHDOs.
